Anna will make a big mistake if he holds his 27th onwards rally in Bombay. He should take over the Country ex Delhi, the seat of Central power. Oh come on, you want to move to Bombay from Delhi because of the cold!?! Cold has its own charm...

A theoretical economist makes for a very incompetent practical economist.
A theoretical economist makes for a very incompetent practical economist. Single biggest example is Kaushik Basu, the CEA of the PM. Earlier, too, theoretical economists, failed. No need to name them.
Kaushik Basu’s biggest problem...
Kaushik Basu’s biggest problem was his face – he wanted it to be seen and heard all the time. His favourite phase was “at a time”!
PM's Chief Economic Advisor
Kaushik Basu is a good teacher. I remember he taught us ME Theory. In Practice, though, he is actually lost & looks so as well.
Confused PM
It is sad that the PM has gone to Russia amidst internal chaos. Is it for getting the Nuclear Power Projects pushed through?

Just wanted to check as to why the Indian currency is falling?
Dear Friends,
Just wanted to check as to why the Indian currency is falling?
They say that foreign investors are taking their funds out- fine. But where are they putting these funds? Surely not in Europe or in the US? Then where? I mean I agree that we are now nowhere near the 8-8.5% growth rate but surely even a 6-6.5% growth rate is not bad under the circumstances. The situation is far worse in Europe & in the US.
Then there are others who say that all this is being done with a view to destabilise the Congress Government at the Centre. Where is the question of destabilising it? It is already in a state of utter flux, chaos & confusion.
Yesterday it was pathetic in Arnab’s News Hour. Minister Ashwini Kumar went out of his way to tell the world that the BJP was responsible for (a) its ills & (b) the ills of the Country! Nothing can be more far-fetched than this. Ravi Shanker Prasad gave befitting answers to, quite literally, Ashwini Kumar’s repeated requests, nay “daleels”...
Swaminathan warned that the situation could take a turn for the worse with Europe expected to go into recession in the next 6-9 months. This, if it happens, would be a disaster. What do you say, Investment Bankers? Which way is the Country headed?

Parikshit
Not very sure of what the BJP is upto.
Dear Friends,
Not very sure of what the BJP is upto. But obviously its enjoying sitting on the fence and watching the discomfiture of the Congress from afar.
Its been making the right moves so far, of this there is little doubt.
The only complication is the Headship part of this party. Lal Krishan ji is now too too old and what the Country wants is “young blood”. Maybe Nitin? No, please, no. Then who else? Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley : one is not too sure of their credentials : can they handle this huge task... ?
Questions only and no answers.
I do hope though that over time both Sushma & Arun will shed a bit of their pompous nature – especially Arun. Sushma can still be articulate when she needs to be. Arun goes overboard.
What is going to happen to the Country, I wonder?
Regards,
Parikshit

Potential Congress Leadership
Dear Friends,Just wanted to share this piece with you all-I had written a few days ago…..I strongly and sincerely feel that Mrs. Priyanka Gandhi would be the right choice to head this country as its Prime Minister. With her at the helm of affairs, a lot of things will start to sort themselves out automatically. She has this aura about her which is very difficult to shrug off. Also, she has the same build, characteristics, gait, mannerisms and tone/ tenor as her grandmother, the charismatic Mrs. Indira Gandhi. I do agree that some people hate Mrs. Indira Gandhi for what she was and what she did but, at the same time, I also believe that most (in fact , many) adored her as an idol/ideal.To different people, she meant different avatars: to some she was a mother, to others she was a daughter and to some others she was a sister. It is a fact that a majority loved & worshipped her. The moment Mrs. Priyanka Gandhi takes over, this vast majority will see her as Indira’s avatar. Things will start falling in place; work will restart with vigor; decisions will be taken; the bureaucracy will sit up with a jerk; the political mass will follow her in a spirited manner. The obvious question that arises, then, is this: what happens to Mr. Rahul Gandhi in such a scenario? I’ll touch upon this topic in my tomorrow’s piece…Regards, Parikshit
